Marina Rules & Guidelines

Big Canoe offers various programs for all members, residents and guests. These include Junior Camps during the summer, Learning Ladies clinics, group clinics and private lessons. In addition, we offer the Operation 36 instructional program. Contact the Pro Shop to schedule lessons and clinics with our staff of golf professionals.

Boat Rentals

  • All boats must be returned to the Marina no later than dusk and
the key placed in the Marina “Key Return” box located under the
    American flag.
  • Rental boats must be returned clean and any trash placed in the trash barrel at the dock. Fines up to $75 can be enforced if the boats are not cleaned.
  • Renters must be 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license to rent a Pontoon or Jon Boat. Renters must be 18 to rent a Canoe.
  • Because Big Canoe is a Wildlife Preserve and bears live here also, the cleaning of fish is not permitted on boats or in the Marina vicinity.

Boating Safety Rules

Use common sense procedures for boating safety and carry life
jackets. Children should be properly supervised. The shoreline drops
off very quickly and is at least 10 feet deep only a few feet from the shoreline, therefore, wading is very dangerous and strictly prohibited.

Fishing Rules

Licenses/Permits are required for anyone 13 or over on a Big Canoe lake and may be purchased at the Marina.

Lake Petit Designated Areas

Swimming is permitted from watercraft on Lake Petit during the designated swim season in a specifically designated area as indicated on the map. Swimming is prohibited within 50 feet of any shoreline or the Marina slips or in any areas outside the designated area. The swim season is April 1 through September 30. Swimming, in season, is permitted during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
